"And in this the Lord showed me something small, no bigger than a hazelnut, lying in the palm of my hand. . .In this little thing I saw three properties. The first is that God made it, the second is that God loves it, the third is that God preserves it." Julian of Norwich

Guess a lay person might skew these results.
I'm not ordained, but I like to hear clerical folk talk about the collar: when they do, why, what happens, and so forth.
One priest admitted that she wore the collar to get special treatment: faster dry cleaning, fewer speeding tickets, etc.
A few talk about what it means to be readily visible as representing the church every day, especially in a country so polarized concerning religious and moral issues.
I wear my collar on Sunday mornings and on days when I'm doing something "official," like taking communion to a sick person or attending a meeting. For normal office days I wear whatever is clean (which doesn't often leave me with a great selection).

I'm one of the "all day on work days" brigade (if you can call 2 a brigade ;-) )....mainly because the shirts look silly without and I don't have either the time or the wardrobe to keep popping in and out of clerical shirts all day long, but my congregation expect me to have a collar on while working.
DOn't even own a collar actually. And have little to no desire to get one.
