it IS all about Holy Week

Palm Sunday--planned. Need some thoughts for a brief sermon.

Holy Monday--we're going to renewal of vows at Cathedral.

Monday evening--Vestry meeting. WHOSE bright idea was that? Oh, yeah, cause I didn't want to change it to Easter Monday.

Maundy Thursday--a couple of things to do, basically planned. Need to write discussion questions for the tables (we're having the Ministry of the Word at tables in the Parish Hall after a simple supper).

Good Friday--some serious kinks to work out. Anyone have a decently sized cross/crucifix? Need a sermon.

Easter Vigil--Basically planned. Need a sermon.

Easter Sunday--Basically planned. Need a sermon.

Hm, I wonder what I'm going to be doing for the next few days. . .

Wow! You are going to be BUSY! Hope this doesn't mean you won't make it to Guild on Sunday. But I can certainly understand if didn't!

Gee ..... i'm sorry. I have a feeling that I'd get a major writer's block at a time like this .... and I always thought that just getting to church every day through Holy Week was doing a lot ...

May I say how thankful I am that my church does not expect sermons at every service during Holy Week?

lol (albeit with slightly hollow reverberations!)You and me both, Emily.
Add to the mix the need to find some vaguely spiritual stuff for our Youth Group to engage with as they keep the less popular slots in our Maundy Thursday Watch, and sleep over in the parish hall in between times...
I've talked WonderfulVicar out of need for sermon on Good Friday and Holy Saturday (think there's enough action at both of those for any commentary to be an unnecessary distraction)...but not a clue what to preach yet for Easter Sunday...nor have I the faintest glimmer of an angle for the family friendly service which follows the main Eucharist on Easter Sunday...
AND I've been given today adn tomorrow off, to be a mummy, so can't even think what I ought to be thinking! Hugs and sympathy x

Emily,

I am skipping Friday the night Lenten thing at Church by the Creek at this very moment so I can finish the Palm Sunday sermon. Whose idea was it to have the intern preach on Palm Sunday? Certainly not the intern's...

We are ready for Maundy Thursday but oh so not ready for Good Friday or the Great Vigil... Pray that there's no rain in the Philly area next Fri and Sat b/c one of the things we are doing Friday is outdoor stations of the cross sort of combined with Tenebrae. On Sat. we will kindle first fire outside in the middle of the labyrinth. This all means that it MUST NOT RAIN - UGH! These ideas sounded good to everyone at the time, and they thought it would be fun to experiment a bit with the intern around.

Kathryn, I have done the youth group Maundy Thurs Watch thing before, and wow, were they hyper after all that time in silence. Can you say frisbee game in the parish hall at 4 AM? :-)

Is the Paschal Homily of St. John Crystostom (sp) totally out for Vigil? It's a thwocking good sermon and you can chew the scenery a little bit.

Inspiration prayers winging your way.
