whoops
Husband and I started a fire in the fireplace in our apartment for the first time tonight.Apparently, we've had better ideas, because although we had the damper open (and yes, we checked) we still ended up with a smoky house.
(I think it was too cold for a first fire).
Oh, well.

a tip from my FIL
you can use a heater fan to warm up the chimney a bit - it helps with the low pressure in the air apparently
and my granny in the good old days stood in front of the fire with an open double sheet of newspaper encouragign the fire to draw (or something) it always worked but looked funny
thanks for stopping by stf. church is supposed to be more than a club! It's so frustrating sometimes!!!
Oh and when I did the quiz I was the christmas gift apparently lol
