RevGalFridayFive

is about procrastination.

Via the RevGals:

Name 5 things you do when you should be doing something else.

Heh heh.

1) Blogging. Either posting, wading through bloglines, commenting, going back and seeing if someone has replied to your comments, taking pictures, thinking about the next blog post, etc. etc.

2)The yarn experience. This is not limited to knitting and crocheting, as in the actual activity of. No, much time can be spent fondling yarn, buying yarn, looking at yarn pron on websites, leafing through patterns and catalogs, reorganizing yarn, dyeing yarn. . .there are endless procrastination activites available through the entire yarn world. Not to mention the spinning wheel and such that have taken up residence.

3)Reading. A finely honed procrastination skill is to go to the library and/or the bookstore right before I have to do something big. Because then I know I have lots of material.

4) Cleaning. Those who know me might find this shocking, but I find decluttering to be a good way of avoiding things I really ought to be doing more (ahem--sermons--ahem) because I feel so righteous about it.

5) When the garden is up and running on the patio, I find puttering around in it to be an effective technique for wasting time.

Long lost sisters, Emily...that's us! We match on 3 out of 5, 4 if you are prepared to count tidying in the same category as cleaning per se..and I'm quite compared to be converted to yarn...looking at tapestry designs in the Ehrmann catalogue fills a similar function.
However, I've even procrastinated my response to the procrastination meme, so perhaps I "ought" to do that now.
Before looking at the readings for Sunday. When I'm preaching. Yup...That's good....Maybe make a cup of tea as well....

I worry sometimes about all you yarn addicts. Especially all the yarn fondling that seems to go on. As far as other forms of procrastination go, I'll read a trashy romance novel to put something off if I can't find anything else!

Yarn is a beautiful thing. I'll say no more.

Well, I can identify with 4 of your 5. lol I am the QUEEN of procrastination. I will beat myself up to avoid doing something I don't like. Then after I torture myself for awhile I usually cave. So now, I roll with it.

I can identify! Yarn, magazines, and "I really should see if I can find a pattern for that yarn I bought several years ago." And I need to do that RIGHT NOW. LOL

You know, I usually am able to make a mental adjustment to my screen font, which tends to bring "rn" together into "m." But whenever I come to visit you, Emily, I get a bit of a shock. Like today:

...fondling yam, buying yam, looking at yam pron on websites, leafing through patterns and catalogs, reorganizing yam, dyeing yam...

But okay, there're days when I would fondle yam if it was the only available means of procrastination.
